In 2014, between January and September, 10.442 cases of child sexual abuse were identified. The saddest part is that only 3% of the sexually abused children cases are reported to legal authorities. A child that is sexually abused carries deep wounds and scars in physical, emotional and psychological levels that last for the rest of their lives. Why wait and allow that someone to steal the childhood from our boys and girls? Let's work together to prevent children sexual abuse!
The program "Learning to take care of myself" provides tools to children about their own care. We teach them to respect their bodies. This helps prevent them from falling victims of sexual abuse. Likewise, the program provides tools for parents and teachers to provide continuity outsource for this cause. We educate parents and teachers to be aware of the risks and signs of sexual child abuse and how to act on cases of suspected child sexual abuse and child sexual abuse.
If a child is sexually abused it affects their emotions and stops their natural development. When we intervene to prevent this problem, we have a better chance that our children will grow up with better skills for their professional, family and personal development. We can also see positive impacts on the decreased levels of violence, poverty, teen pregnancy and transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.
