Composting Latrines at the GGM Clinic

$300 $900

Water and Sanitation are both necessary for health care delivery. It is a simple fact. You may treat the symptoms but if you don't take care of the underlying problem the condition will continue to repeat over and over. The GGM clinic in Murray Town now has a newly installed well providing clean water but sanitation remains a problem. New latrines are needed. GGM is teaming up with a group of youths to introduce the concept of composting latrines for human waste. Six latrines will be built

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

The free primary health clinic operated by Greatest Goal Ministries is located on the site of the National Rehabilitative Center. This center is bordered on three sides but the front wall was never built. Community encroachment, theft and vandalism are all problems to endure each day. Latrines must be built but if they are built prior to the wall being built the latrines will be full by community use and wil not then be available for patient use.

How will this project solve this problem?

The concrete block wall will ensure safety to the clinic, the patients and clinic inventory. It will prevent future encroachment and ensure that the latrines on site are availalbe for patients being treated.

Potential Long Term Impact

The concrete wall is a necessary deterrent for violence and thieves. Over 10,000 patients will visit the GGM clinic this year. The wall will protect against unnecessary access of the property and will ensure that the latrines remain available to the patient population and not the general public.
