Bethesda Home for the Blind, Nigeria, Africa was established out of the passion for helping blind youths in achieving any goals they desire in life. Our aim is to make sure they go to school like other people. We have sent 86 out of 126 youths to Universities free of charge. This year, 25 blind students got admission into University. They need laptop for their education. If not, they will LOSE the admission. It is compulsory, the deadline is 15th July. All of them costs $16250. Please donate.
From our data, the number of blind youths (both men and women) are increasing rapidly in Nigeria with Cataract and Glaucoma as the leading causes. According to Vanguard (https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/utme-blind-candidates-laud-jamb-permitting-braille-typewriter-stylus-cbt/) 306 blind students sat for University entrance exam. 25 of them come from Bethesda Home and they got admission into Universities. Laptop is made compulsory for them. If they don't have it they will lose the admission.
Bethesda Home provides feeding, shelter, clothing and tuition fees for abandoned blind students in Nigeria. Universities recently made laptop compulsory for every blind students for their studies and exams without which they will lose their admission. We have already trained them on laptop computer usage which they can now operate very well without seeing the buttons. Now, equipping them will this laptop will send 25 of them to University to study and they will not lose the hard earned admission
The project will add additional 25 blind students to the 86 we are already sponsoring in Universities. This project removes abandoned blind beggars from the street and change their status from beggar to independent graduates and working class. We have produced blind graduates who are working and earning good salary. They also help to train other blind students. In the next ten years, there will be no blind beggar on the streets of Nigeria as they will all be gainfully employed to work.
