David is one of the beneficiaries of Expanding Opportunities. He has been living in the children's home receiving food, shelter, clothing, education and love for close to four years. We asked "our" boys to write a bit about their experience at the Joseph Waweru Home School in Menegai West, Mangu, Kenya.
This is the report of David Twiga. Oh I should add, Twiga is a loving nickname given to David by one of our volunteers. Twiga means Giraffe. David is the tallest at the home. He is a bit older than others in his class due to the inability to attend school before joining us. He is in 8th grade and will take the exam that will determine his future education in December.
His words were only lightly edited to correct some spelling and punctuation.
"This is D. Twiga I’m very happy when writing about what Expanding Opportunities has done for me and has given me. First, I would like to say I cannot manage to write all of them down but God in heaven knows. Here are some:
1, It has provided all the basic needs
2, Introduced me to new friends like brothers
3, It has given me freedom of expression
4, Made me to be a person of high integrity
5, Made me to value myself not like before
6, It has introduced me to many people, now I’m famous
7, Made me to know who I am
8, Made me to know all the values of a good person
9, Made me to know God
10, Made me to have humanity inside my heart may God bless EXOP
I would really like to narrate more and more of what it has done but I can’t manage only God can. Otherwise I’m very happy and glad to be in Expanding even if I’m here for a season, I’m here for a reason. I hope and know that God will make me reach my destination through my hardworking and Bev’s prayers. May her prayers reach God and ours too. May God bless everyone who has done something about us in one heart. Because of you all I am a person who can stand in front of people and give a speech. I believe I am a man not a ram because of you .Thanks a lot, lots of love.xoxoxox
