This project will give food to 150 children from impoverished homes at Korogocho. These are children who sleep hungry and come to school in the morning having eaten nothing. This is because most of their parents are illicit brew sellers and barely make the ends meet. The need to feed these children and give them an education is dire, in order to break the cycle of poverty.A meal a day, will change this script and help them get an education, live empowered and dignified.
Korogocho is one of the largest slum neighborhoods of Nairobi, Kenya. Home to 150,000 to 200,000 people pressed into 1.5 square kilometers. In 2009 it was estimated to be the fourth largest slum in Nairobi. The people in this sprawling slum live in abject poverty. Feeding 150 children inorder to stay at school and learn will affect the more than 1000 households in Korogocho slums.
DCI education project will provide food to the children in need of an education. The children will get balanced meals every day they are in school, thus making education accessible to the most unfortunate children.
The project will give an education to 150 + children, allowing them to change their script of poverty, live empowered and dignified lives and with that create a haven of hope in Korogocho slum.
