Every child has the right to Education. The project consist in offering a basic education to 65 disadvantaged children from the urban slum of Kibuye (suburbs of Kampala -Uganda) and aged 6-14. Your donation will contribute to providing them with school fees, scholastic materials, uniforms and sanitary pads for girls.
Many poor Ugandan children drop out of school. Most families live on less than $1 a day and there is insufficient awareness regarding education and its values. As a consequence, some caretakers/guardians are not willing to send their children to school as they consider them as a source of labor and hence the children must work to supplement on the family income. We believe that education is the main escape from poverty. We believe and we experienced that those difficulties can be overcome.
We have identified the Kibuye I Beupa Learning center as a pilot for our actions. We are already financing 2 breakfast per week for the 65 children attending the school. Our aim for 2014 is to finance and secure school fees, uniforms and scholastic material. By doing so, we incentivize parents to keep their children in school by reducing the required financial charges and we will obtain good results on school attendance, the improvement of the sanitary conditions and the education of those kids.
The project gives kids hope and a ticket out of poverty. Parents discover the benefits of the school and an education. Children will get sufficient materials to get better results. Educated boys and girls will also make all possible to offer the same gift to their own children.
