Since 3.11, two years has passed and with every contribution from GlobalGiving donors, Japan Platform has successfully implemented more than 200 projects in Tohoku area with the total expenditure of 69,103,185USD.

During these two years, Japan Platform has set up two field offices in Tohoku (Sendai, Miyagi and Tono, Iwate) and established “Stand by Together Fund” for various actors engaged in relief and rehabilitation of Tohoku.  As a leading NGO consortium in the country, Japan Platform aims to effectively deliver grass-root assistance where public service cannot reach, and keep the victims in the center of the reconstruction process.

Considering the importance of self-reliance of civil society and the involvement of the local citizens for the long run of the reconstruction, our current focus in particular is on local civil organizations newly founded in the affected regions after the disaster: as well as providing financial support, we also provide advice for those local organizations to enhance their organizational capability and projects.

Having field offices is our strength for grasping needs on the ground and directly working with the municipal governments, local actors and citizens. Field-level operation involves participation in consultation on local rehabilitation plan, identifying local-level assistance needs and linking and coordinating various local actors to support the affected communities.

Japan Platform will continue to assist NGOs, various relief actors and people of Tohoku, to the next big step toward recovery of Tohoku from this unprecedented disaster.

We thank you, and continue asking for your continuous thoughts and supports for Japan Platform.
