Knowing that digital skill set is going to be a requirement in future work force, action to empower school children now with digital skills is a must. Healthy Career Initiative is set to solve this problem through coding clubs in elementary schools. Yes, it is our responsibility to equip future generations with the skill set they need to thrive in the 21st century workforce.
The world is revolving with technology but the kids in Ghana are not exposed to any digital makings. Research reveals that less than 1% of children in Africa currently leave school with basic coding skills. Knowing that digital skill set is going to be a requirement in future work force in a few coming years, the situation is quite alarming.
Healthy Career Initiative is attempting to solve the problem above by organizing after school coding clubs in most elementary schools in Ghana by introducing technology to children in a creative fun way. This will equip them with skills and encourage them to pursue other courses in technology as they grow. The world needs more innovators, problem solvers. It is necessary to empower the future generation early enough with the right skill-set needed to thrive in the 21st century workforce
Coding has become a language for the future and every child deserves to become fluent. We have designed a step by step project guide in 3 different computer languages that will help equip the child with enough skill set. Our projects will be supervised by our volunteer network or trained ICT teachers at each center. At the end of each academic year, members of the code clubs will be able to create websites, create interactive stories, and make their own games.
