Thanks to everyone who contributed to our September campaign! We were so thrilled to exceed our $10K fundraising goal. Overall, we received $11,266 in donations from 81 unique donors. We are so honored and excited!
Intern-Me 2018 competition will be launched in the first quarter of 2018. We plan to choose the finalists from our competition by March/April 2018. Selected students will participate in internships starting summer 2018.
We have been working hard after the campaign to set up the groundwork for Intern-Me 2018. Due to the generous donations made by our donors, we estimate that we would be able to give hands-on research internship experience to at least 5 deserving students.
The first hurdle in providing internship experiences is to obtain such internships from our host institutes. We are happy to report that we already have received confirmation from two highly reputed research institutes, who have agreed to offer internships for Intern-Me 2018. Formal agreements are currently being signed and we will announce names of these institutes after these agreements are signed by both organizations. We are currently in communication with several other host institutes who are considering offering internships in the Intern-Me programs.
The second hurdle is to set up the infrastructure for a massive, nationwide competition that will be held to select the potential candidates for Intern-Me 2018. We are happy to announce our partnership with organizations such as www.internshala.com who would collaborate and allow us to reach out to remote corners of the country and find talented young students with limited resources. We are currently working with our partner organizations about the details of implementation of Intern-Me, with the official launch date planned in January 2018.
