Summary

Palm Institute is at a vital stage in its mission to educate and train the next generation of ethical African leaders. Having recently received national accreditation to offer four-year degree programs, we now offer a Business Information Technology degree and will add Business Administration and Computer Science degrees. As such, we seek investments to fund interim housing and transportation costs that will in turn help recruit new students to boost enrollment in these new degree programs.

Challenge

Palm Institute recently launched the Campaign for Ethical African Leadership, a 4yr effort that will increase our investment in scholarships and fund the building of a 150-student hostel on campus, which is expected to be completed in 2023. In the interim, our most immediate need is the recruitment of 50 students for the 2021-22 academic year, to be housed in a temporary hostel located off-campus. Due to the location of this interim housing, we also require transportation to and from campus.

Solution

The solution is to secure philanthropic investments that will fund the estimated $75,000 cost of meeting this challenge. Specifically, the amount will fund the cost to lease the temporary hostel for the coming academic year, the purchase of furniture for the hostel, and the purchase of a van to provide transportation to and from the campus.

Long-Term Impact

Donations to provide for these immediate needs will serve as investments to grow the school's tuition revenue stream, which alongside philanthropic support will help Palm Institute achieve its goals for degree accreditation. Ultimately, the ability to offer degree programs including Business Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science and others will enable the next generation of African leaders to provide ethical and morally sound leadership to their communities.
