This project will transform the professional capacity of at least 50 legally recognized female migrants and refugees by the Moroccan government, by providing them with greater training opportunities and greater integration opportunities in the formal health Moroccan labor force. This project will provide protection to vulnerable subsahran women from harsh treatment, unsanitary working conditions, potential violence and sexual exploitation. The political environment is also supporting the project
There are at least 18000 legally recognized migrants and 500 refugees in Morocco, 90% of whom live in financial vulnerability. The need for viable work opportunities is urgent now more than ever since chances to achieve financial freedom are slim, and marginalization, violence, torture and sexual violence are still spread in Morocco. Without formal employment laws, female migrant women and refugees tend to resort to begging or are subject to being trafficked illegally.
We female migrants and refugees, legally recognized by the government, with greater training opportunities in Morocco as well as greater integration opportunities in the formal Moroccan labor force. The proposed project is urgently needed to capitalize on momentum from new legislation which benefits migrants and refugees, seeking to integrate into formal sectors of the Moroccan society and economy. Government agencies have made professional training and integration a priority.
The long term impact of the project is to give female refugees and migrants legally recognized by the government job training which will help them benefit from economic opportunities in the Rabat region in Morocco.
