The proposal identified strategic areas of conservation and development of the Department of Loreto pressed by anthropic action of population centers contiguous to the natural areas protected by the State or within geopolitical areas of development. Then, sectors that exert pressure were prioritized and evaluated deforestation, loss of biomass and carbon stock. The result showed alarming process of forest loss and the consequent loss of biodiversity and loss of aerial biomass.
Agroforestry continues to face challenges such as unfavorable political incentives, inadequate dissemination of information, legal restrictions and poor coordination among the multiple sectors it favors. It is also not adequately included in national policies, land use planning and rural development programs. As a result, its potential contribution to the economy and to sustainable development objectives has not been fully recognized or exploited.
