The team is in Vietnam right now, after the usual hard work and hectic preparations. They've been there one night, and after breakfast "we are going to stock up on water bottles, snacks and Bahn Mi for our bus ride to Dong Thap."

We plan to install two more computer labs with 30 laptops donated by the Gates Foundation. We are working with the Vietnam Scholarship Foundation again to add computers to reading rooms that they have developed in schools in the Dong Thap Province. This project provides computers and technology to schools that have none; opening doors and learning opportunities for these students. A team of 14 US high school students will prepare the computers, install them in the schools, then teach the school staff and students how to use them. The students from both countries spend time playing and learning from each other, creating friendships and a greater understanding about each other.

TSC will be returning to Vietnam in April 2016 to install two more computer labs with 30 laptops donated by the Gates Foundation.

Building upon the success of the trip in 2014, TSC is currently planning the next trip to Vietnam in April 2016.  A team of 15 high school students will return to create comuter labs in two more schools.  We continue to work with the Vietnam Scholarship Foundation that provides scholarships to youth to complete high school and college.  The computers helps students succeed with their education and prepare them for college.

The selection process to choose students to be the logistics and technology leads is currently underway. Then students will apply to be team members and start planning and learning the technology skills they need to successfully set up computer labs and teach the children in Vietnam how to use the computers.

We look forward to sharing more details with you as the trip is planned more.

TSC is actively preparing for two trips to Guatemala this summer, and a trip to Vietnam again in Spring 2016.  TSC is beginning to plan with the Vietnam Scholarship Foundation to install computers in at least two more reading rooms.

The computer labs have been successful with students learning many new skills, helping them do well in school and prepare for higher education and jobs.

See the link below to learn more about the past trip to Vietnam from the blog and photos.

We appreciate your support of our work and look forward to sharing news about our future trips.

TSC continues to work closely with the Vietnam Scholarship Foundation (VNSF).

We are planning another trip for April 2016 to install two more computer labs in VNSF's reading rooms as well as check in on the labs installed this year.

TSC is going to Guatemala and spending time developing a stronger curriculum to assure that both teachers and students in schools are well trained to use the computers.

Thanks for the ongoing support that donors provide to TSC.  You make it possible for Seattle students to receive scholarships and go on life changing trips like this.  It also gives an important gift of computer resources to students in other countries to increase their learning and open more opportunities for their future.

Wishing you a happy holiday season.
