Computers are important learning tools that open doors to many opportunities for school children and gives teachers important resources to improve teaching.
Children in these schools are low income and have limited resources and no access to computers. These laptops will provide children and teachers with important learning tools -- computers and education software.
A diverse group of 14 high school students will travel to the Dong Thap Province in Vietnam to set up 2 computer labs in Reading Rooms created by our partner, the Viet Nam Scholarship Foundation. The US high school students will set-up a networked computer lab and spend time teaching the Vietnamese children and teachers how to use the computers. They will teach us about about Vietnamese culture and traditions.
This will provide children with broader learning opportunities, and have them learn how to use Microsoft Office software which is important for continuing education such as college and employment skills. 500 children as well as the teachers and adults in these communities will have computers for the first time.
