INSPIRING YOUTH IN PREVENTING VIOLENT EXTREMISM

Summary

Radicalization and violent extremism are intergenerational phenomena that affect people in different age cohorts. As Uganda becomes the second largest host to refugees from the Eastern region most of whom are forced to migrate to escape sexual violence on women and girls and,the rising ethnic rhetoric, hate speech and ethnically-fueled violence. Matters are complicated for Uganda because it has not yet ratified the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) and yet her many international borders with South Sudan

Challenge

Solution

This campaign will focus on interfaith dialogue to inspiring village youth to prevent violent extremism in the fight against violent extremism, radicalization, and terrorism; it is evident that traditional law-enforcement tactics employed in Uganda and the Eastern African region are insufficient by themselves.

Long-Term Impact

Resilience of communities to violent extremism and radicalization is bolstered. ii. Violent extremist ideology is effectively challenged by producing effective narratives to counter it and building capacity of leadership in conflict sensitive leadership, service delivery and non-discrimination.mes
