Saviya Development Foundation is engaged in post - Tsunami rehabilitation, livelihood recovery and health care activities and has been able to support nearly 3500 Tsunami affected families of the income group. The following action has been taken to uplift the livelihood of the displaced and financially backward community, in the region owing to the Tsunami devastation.
1. US$ 300 was spent on 08 displaced families in the South Western region in Sri Lanka, to raise their living standard. Action was taken to support the domestic income of the said poor families. Please find two photographs.
2. Especially 08 women headed widowed families were selected and helped them to develop the domestic revenue, through cottage industries ( garment industry, handicrafts, painting, food production etc.)
3. This group was selected from the community in Pettigalawatta within the Galle, Four Gravets D.S area. There are 38 groups in the area, each consisting of 10 members, with a final membership of 380. The remaining groups needs assistance to promote their home based self employment.
