Project Report | Feb 24, 2016
Ensuring HIV free babies born of HIV positive moms

By Muhammad Kyeyune | Executive Director

SORAK has since the inception of this project worked with widows living with orphaned children.
Some of these children live positively with HIV/AIDS. With support from global giving, that constitute social and psychosocial support, a strong feeling and conviction among children born of widows living with HIV/AIDS has been created. They are confident that they can cause change. These children majority of who are now teenagers have with SORAK management resolved to ensure that their siblings and others to be born in future are free from AIDS.
SORAK went an extra Mile and recorded a video of this approach (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuQ175mUWxw&feature=youtu.be)
We have posted this to our network both locally and internationally and in a space of one day here are the comments from people who have viewed the video.
1- “Muhammad, thank you very much for sharing!! What a truly fantastic video, really lovely to watch!
Keep up the great work SORAK.
Best wishes,
Ellen- United Kingdom”

2-Hi Muhammad
“Thank you for sharing it with me!
I really love it!
I think taking video is really good idea because people can visually understand.
Children singing a HIV advocacy song are so cute and lovely smile!!

Best,
Maiko- Japan “

3-Dear Mohammad,
“The video is very good and educative.
Well done.
South Africa “

4-Dear Muhammad,
“This is indeed very great achievement.
You are doing a great job for the communities.
The next one should be on TB/HIV.
Nice job done.
We are proud of the SORAK partnership.
Kind regards,

Dr. Isiko Kawanguzi Paul
Executive Director
Uganda Stop TB Partnership (USTP)”

5-“Well-done my teacher, thanks for your hard work
Robinah Nakyobe –Uganda”

Dear Muhammad
“This is great work - in the field and also in the video, communicating incorporating drama. Thanks a lot dear Muhammad and the rest of SORAK. The message in most of the song is quite clear and relevant. So is that in the said parts.
What may need improving on is: the message at the beginning (in the song). The words are mentioned too fast and not very audible.
So if one cannot read the English words, they may be left out on that part.
But it is great work.
Thank you.

Dr Busulwa USTP-Uganda “

SORAK has learnt that with a few dollars, we can cause change. And that change can come when led by persons who are directly affected by HIV/AIDS. With this video a wider audience can be reached and inspire learning as well as sharing good practices.
Widows living with HIV/AIDS are also confident and that their children (OVCs) can cause change, fight stigma and discrimination, which contribute to poor living conditions.
Dear partners and donors view the video and learn more how your support has built a strong foundation, given morale to HIV/AIDS affected communities to live longer.More widows living with HIV who are eligible for livelihood support are being discovered day by day through this infotainment approach. We are on the other hand having less and less babies being born with HIV!! What a great effort our donors' hard earned money has offered. If we hit our fundraising goal ,we would be happy to improve many more widows lives. This appleis to the newly discovered ones through infotainment.
