Christine , widow living with HIV/AIDS did not expect to live longer than one more year when SORAK first met her in 2013.
She had been suffering from TB in addition to being on ARVs. Christine had lost hope in life. When contacted, Christine preferred to take on a piglet that later produced others within 6 months.
When SORAK programme staff visited Christine, we were happy to learn that the one piglet had produced 8 others which Christine sold to earn 175 $. She noted that it was now easy for her to visit the health unit which was 20kms away from ART and reviews. She can now meet the scholastic materials of her 2 orphans.
Tom is an 11 year old orphan has been able to go back to school. The piglet given to her widowed mother produced 9 health piglets. Tom hopes to buy a cow when he sells all his piglets.
Thanks to Global giving for the support so far provided. Many more widows are yet to be reached. We are yet to reach our target of 200 widows. We have so far covered 20% of our target. An extra 20$ USD will add one more widow to our list of happy beneficiaries
