Tomasi is aged 13, an orphan who was discovered in 2011 with an ageing grandmother.
The grandmother had lost his son and daughter in law to HIV and AIDS 2 years before SORAK intervention.
The household of five persons including Tomasi who was by then aged 9 years old and the eldest aong the four orphaned siblings left with a grandmother.
" This grandson of mine toma is my husbaband,...since the death of his mother and father, he had shouldered every this..., going to the shops to buy salt, looking after our two chicken,...He also cares for his young ones including bathing them when he fetches water on his head from a pond which is 3 miles from here...
i dont know what will happen because i know iam soon dying and .Toma's uncles are careless ,poor and resorted to only consuming alcohol...I also suspect that they may also be sick with 'silim'(AIDS)...
These and more were the words spoken by Tomasi's grandmother when SORAK provided a piglet to the household in 2011.
SORAK visited the Tomasis' in October 2015 but we were suddaned to learn of the demise of the grand mother.
"You are welcome but your best friend and our best best friend, who had turned out to be everything to us died.! Tomasi explained to SORAK team of vistors,...when found just a few metres from home going to fetch water.I now manage the home,... i go to school three days a week, because on a friday i have to go to the weekly market to sale food stuffs and fruits and a mondays is when i collect those food stuffs from farmers. When i sell i make profit of 6000 UGX(about 2 $) per week .
But the pig you gave us was the blessing to our family. The first time it produced 8 piglets, we sold 6 and remained with 2 plus the old one,...The second time it produced twelve we sold all and got 600,000UGX.That was before the death of grand mother. We then bought this bicycle when it was new at 250,000 UGX ,grand mother kept the balance that kept us going. This year we sold our old pig and we have two grand piglets., God should always be with you SORAK man and those women you moved with"
These and others are testimonies from the field in Mubende, showing the beauty and strengths of investing Your hard earned dollar dear Global giving donor. A piglet of only 5 $ has changed lives.
We are almost coming to half od our target, but it is taking long, because we set fire to the needy souls in our communities that are always comming for support like this one above.
Dear donors, an extra 5$,10$, ro 20 $ can improve lives of many more Tomasi's of our community-Mubende-Uganda.
