Challenge

80% of widows face: food insecurity, limited awareness to better farming methods, poor nutrition, Limited access to improved planting materials, the high poverty levels, the impact of HIV/AIDS and unemployment among mothers and their children. SDA has mobilized women into groups that are a potential to active participation in the project. We have also undertaken group farming. This grant will therefore expand our local efforts through support with 200 goats and 40000 improved banana suckers

Solution

Support 200 widows with 200 goats, 40000 banana suckers, train them in integrated farming for sustained banana - goat organic farming

Long-Term Impact

Improved food supply better nutrition, sustainable income thus reduced poverty and capacity to meet costs of housing, health and education; sustained women's access to land and intensive farming in order to protect the soils from agents of deterioration.
