With your help, Global Links was able to prepare a 40-foot sea container full of medical materials selected specifically to fulfill the needs expressed by staff at the Centro Materno Infantil San Lorenzo de Los Mina in early 2009. Approximately 55 women a day give birth in this 224-bed hospital. The container was filled with such basic, essential items as a pediatric gurney, hospital-grade cribs, beds, chairs, infant scales, as well as equipment such as thermometers, nebulizers, and blood pressure units.
Global Links has had a strong commitment to improving healthcare in Dominican Republic since 1998 and we hope to continue improving care for women and children there in the future. Your support allows us to meet more requests for basic items such as IV poles so that children don't have to remain immobile with their IV bags taped to the wall during treatment for dehydration.
Thank you for your support. Please feel free to leave comments below regarding our project to improve maternal and infant care.
