This project aims to serve 12 SOS families/76 children living in the "SOS Children village - Skopje". The main objective is to improve the standard of living of the residents, mainly children and SOS mothers, through issuing loans for sanitation facility improvements, CTA and training. The activities include an educational component regarding energy efficiency, proper water usage, and environmental protection. The total cost of this project is USD $57,908.
Macedonia in comparison with developed countries spends three to four times more energy in terms of gross national income. A large percentage of the energy is consumed for heating and households participate with about 40 percent of total energy consumption. Despite spending large amounts on heating, a large part of Macedonian citizens continue to live in substandard conditions when it comes to heating their homes. Macedonia is obliged to cut energy costs at least 9% by 2016.
This project will meet the needs of 50 low income partner families' through saving energy and decreasing energy costs, diminishing the heat loss and reducing harmful emissions in the atmosphere. Implementation of this project will be done in partnership with several companies specialized in windows and doors production and replacement.
