80 widows are introducing improved agricultural practices to increase their income from 30 to 450$ per month. Improved traditional poultry, crafted mango, tissue cultured banana, and nutritious traditional vegetables farming practices are implemented through small scale irrigation system. Cross breed goat farming for increased milk and meat production is also proposed. The project is situated in Nyora village, Migori County, Kenya
Widows defying sexual cleansing are socio-economically isolated, exploited and enslaved in poverty. Those engaged as laborers in fishing industry make $30 per month, barely enough for subsistence. Improved agricultural practices for 80 widows are needed to get $450.
1) 1,600 improved traditional poultry parent stocks will be introduced for increased eggs and meat production 2)1,600 crafted mango seedlings will be distributed for increased quality and yields of the fruits 3)1,600 tissue cultured banana seedlings, will be introduced for high quality and yields 4) Small scale irrigation for traditional vegetables farming introduced 5)Capacity building in horticultural crop production will be done 6)Members income increased from$30-450 per month
