We are providing training and sustainable market linkages for 1,000 women in Darfur, Sudan who have been displaced by conflict. Over the last three months CHF’s program has focused on building the capacity of women to form independent weaving cooperatives and/or handicraft producer groups. Teaching women to accurately cost and price their products has shown an immediate impact on the lives of the artisans. Nura learned to knit at the CHF Women’s Center where she attended business training, she then sold her products at the market and used the profit to buy 2 sheep, which have now become 6 sheep and she sells their milk everyday to her neighbors. Nura is now a CHF trainer and uses her income from these ventures to support her family.
