We're very excited because we've just returned from Uganda where the Dignity for Girls project has officially begun.
The project aims to keep more girls in education by helping them manage their periods confidently and with dignity – girls like 13-year-old Winnie, who lives in the rural district of Nakasongola, and says: "The first time I had my period, I was scared. I didn't know what was happening."
We are working with three faiths - the Catholic Church, Church of Uganda and Uganda Muslim Supreme Council - because they are major providers of education in Uganda and run thousands of schools.
We had really positive meetings with our faith partners as well as with the Ministry of Education. Everyone recognises that this is an important issue that needs to be tackled to keep girls in education and break the cycle of poverty.
