The project will provide technical skills for manufacturing local sanitary pads to 200 girls student who trends to escape school during their menstruation period, local materials for manufacturing will be freely provided. For health improvement the project will build 2 toilet and washing facilities to support more girls to access and become more comfortable in schools during their menstrual cycles.
Schools in Hai District experiencing water and sanitation problems that are not adapted to the needs of children in particular girls. Underprivileged sanitation as well as failure to afford sanitary pads during menstruation period due to high level of poverty within families results into poor girls' attendance in schools. The situation prompted many girls to be uncomfortable in school environments during their monthly menstruation and sometimes lead to poor attendance and drop out in school.
The project will be implemented in Masama ward in Hai District to tackle the issues of poor sanitation and access to sanitary pads in primary school which affect more girl children especially during menstruation period. In addition to that, the project will also focus on increasing students' knowledge about health and disease prevention.
The project will provide 200 girls children with the knowledge to manufacture local sanitary pads which are easily accessibility renewable and cost less. 2 Better toilets and washing facilities will be constructed to ensure girls privacy, health care and better learning environment.
