Summary

We exist to help teachers achieve their dreams for their classrooms. Teach A Class brings impactful tools and resources to motivated teachers from low-income or government schools in India. We currently fund programs for teachers in four areas: personalised learning, classroom libraries, science toolkits and teacher professional development. Through these programs we aim to empower 250 teachers, while also improving the learning outcomes of students.

Challenge

In India, while 96% of children are enrolled in school, they are not learning. 60% of children in Grade III cannot read a Grade I textbook. Teachers are unable to support their students effectively due to poor student-teacher ratios, improper infrastructure, harsh working environments and little to no support. Only 22% of teachers receive any on-the-job training - a number that is steadily declining.

Solution

Teach A Class aims to improve education levels amongst children by empowering their teachers. We do this by providing high-quality resources and training to teachers in India. Teachers select a program of their choice and we help raise funds for them on our platform. We currently host 4 programs for teachers to choose from: personalised learning, reading, science toolkits and a professional development program.

Long-Term Impact

Keep teachers motivated and enthusiastic about their work and improve learning outcomes amongst students so they are on par with standard literacy and numeracy levels recommended for their age.
