The Palestinian Village of Susiya was to be demolished before their appeal but international outcry and our briefings with Congress kept it safe. Now the children of Susiya and Umm Al Kheir will present their Pinwheels for Peace to Congress on International Peace Day. With your help, they and their parents will tell their story to Senators and Representatives first hand and Congress will take steps to keep Palestinian Villages standing, a tangible way to make peace.

The Israel's Army is demolishing Palestinian neighborhoods in gross violations of human rights that fuel extremism worldwide. On June 9th the High Court of Israel denied the right of Palestinian villages in the West Bank's Area C to plan their own communities, leaving all decisions on zoning and planning to Israeli occupation authorities with no direct Palestinian representation when it comes to the future of their towns. But when Congress is asked to intervene, Palestinian villages stay safe.

Calls from Congress kept the village of Al Aqaba standing - so this summer we briefed 50 congressional offices about Susiya. Senator Feinstein, Rep. Eshoo and 11 others intervened with public letters stopping the Israeli Army from demolishing their village in July, for now. Please help bring the children and parents of Susiya and Umm Al Kheir to speak to Congress first hand on International Peace Day. Help press Congress to continue take tangible action to keep Palestinian villages standing.

Long-Term Impact

On their Pinwheels for Peace, Susiya's children wrote what peace means and drew what it looks like. Their visit to Congress will inspire constituents of all backgrounds and faiths to press elected their officials to keep Palestinian families safe in their homes, children in their schools, and villages standing. Congress will take action to provide building insurance to safeguard Palestinian construction as they press Israel to recognize the zoning plans of hundreds of Palestinian villages.
