Summary

#ICareAboutPeace is an on-going campaign, currently in its fourth year, designed to promote equal rights for Palestinians. Following our successful fourth #ICareAboutPeace Congressional Briefing, 14-year-old Lama from Gaza City and her mother Amal will join Rebuilding Alliance staff for an East Coast speaking tour. They will speak of the hardships that they endure living in Gaza City and what their visions of peace look like.

Challenge

The Gov't of Israel is warning Palestinian communities, including 44 schools, that they will be demolished for lack of unattainable building permits. The US Government has ended aid for UN schools, food aid, and medical care. Gaza families face significant challenges as a result of the blockade. Congress can help. Each Senator and Rep. promises to help constituents resolve urgent issues with U.S. agencies and this is not lobbying. Your support can keep villages standing, and keep schools open.

Solution

The children's speeches describing what peace means have been the most effective advocacy we've seen of the over 330 briefings with Congressional staff, in person & over the phone, that Rebuilding Alliance has held on this issue. Following our 4th #ICareAboutPeace briefing to Congress, we will be taking our brave youth speakers on tour to bring their voices to you. Once you meet them, know them, then call Congress, that intervention, brings light and makes all the difference.

Long-Term Impact

When children make Pinwheels for Peace with parents or teachers or in the US, especially in times of crisis, the children are deeply reassured. Adults find this life-changing... it reminds them of their responsibility to help make the children's dreams real. The long-term impact of bringing the children and their pinwheels to Congress and on tour keeps villages standing, assuring thriving communities, measured in the health of their children, the ease of the parents, and a growing economy.
