Camp Angelina does not start till the third week of December but the preparation work for it starts well before that! During her working month in the field volunteer Rebecca Light has completed registering all of the OVC girls who will participate in camp Angelina 2013 edition.
80 girls were registered from five sub-counties of Kassanda, Bukuya, Kitumbi, Kalwana, and Makokoto and the process was completed as all the necessary data has been collected. Online forms were designed to electronically have all the participants data filed and tracked in the future as well. This will allow future volunteers to start where their predecessors have left.
Another registration effort was that for the HIV positive children for the nutrition support program. In total we registered 7 index children (those who are HIV positive) and a total of other 30 children in the index children’s households.
Overall we have so far registered 45 index children out of a total of 235 children. On the same program we have received nutrition supplements from our partners Mildmay Uganda for 52 index child households estimated to a total of about 260 children. These food supplies included maize flour (400 kgs), High protein porridge (300kgs), beans (400kgs), cooking oil (50 litters) and 250 packing bags.
We have distributed part of these nutrition supplements to 3 families with a total of five children per family with 7.5 kgs of maize flour, 5.5 kgs of high protein porridge, 7.5 kgs of beans and I Littre of cooking oil per family. Many more are to come in the upcoming weeks. The distribution for the remaining families will continue in the upcoming weeks.
