In partnership with the World Health Organization, we will deliver medical equipment and supplies to Cuban hospitals gravely damaged by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Dozens of hospitals and clinics in Cuba have been seriously damaged by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. "This devastation has left hospital staff unable to meet the medical needs of their patients and have thus put thousands of lives at risk," said Kathleen Hower, Executive Director. Global Links, one of a few federally licensed programs working in Cuba since 1994, is in a unique position to offer immediate and long-term assistance to support public health in the country.
Strategic Donations of Medical Materials: "The impact of the donations that you have made has been fundamental to the solution of some prioritized problems in the Health System of Cuba.--Dr. Patricio Yepez, PAHO/WHO Representative (2004)
The Global Links project will allow Cuban hospitals to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, thereby ensuring adequate and life-saving healthcare for thousands of Cubans in both the short and long term.
