Moms and girls waiting as they learn to make Liquid soap at the Workshop
As we come to the mid of the year JUNE 2013, we are focusing on supporting our Moms and children in the slums with sustainability skills!
Our former student Harriet Kabenge brought four friends with her to Mama Africa this week, her third visit, to run our very first Soap making Workshop in Slum community of kosovo.
Harriet, Our student who has become a specialist in breaking the cycle of poverty amongst women here in the Center in Kosovo, gave the first ever in 2013 workshop on fighting poverty to more than 80 Mothers and children at Mama Africa in Kosovo Uganda. The community was really interested and the talk was given in Luganda and lusoga to ensure everyone understood the information that was being provided. The workshop covered the importance of sustainability, women Empowerment and how to reduce the number of violated women due to financial constraints’ and included the opportunity for a Liquid soap Market check from one of the team.
We also launched the Skills empowerment short courses this week with the same team, distributing books, pens for their notes. The plan is specifically aimed at children of Mama Africa, women from the community and the entire community to eradicate, break the cycle of poverty locally and improve their Income in their families and all the days of life, the time deemed most important for a economic development.
We are part of GlobalGiving’s campaign that says, "The world is full of problems, GlobalGiving is full of solutions.” You can do this through a gift. If you would like to support Mom's and girls in Uganda at Mama Africa, whilst gifting your Mom a handmade scarf and set of worry dolls then please take a look at our website: www.mamaafricaorganization.org.
