Knowledge Is Power

By a male, 16-21 years old, in Kenya
Map of Knowledge is power Drought had engulfed the people of Mwikholo village like a bad spell. Neither the poor men prayers nor hardwork in their shamba bore fruits, but they had hope, that one day the rains would come back and replace the deadly famine. The wells that had been dug in almost every home lacked use due to severe drying of the land. Mr. Asiligwa a member of mwikholo village thought of this and came up with a solution. He asked every member of the village to form groups of fifteen each. Early in the morning on a chilly Monday, they marched one by one to the district commissioners office where they were given sh. 15,000 each for the development of their village's environment. Mr. Asiligwa helped the people to sign the much needed forms, proving that they had taken the money. The money was used to bring the tapped water from the water services company (WSC). It helped change a lot since they could irrigate their shambas and use it for domestic use. Actually the village has gratitude to Mr. Asiligwa upto now. Read more.
