Boys and Girls Clubs of Central America is seeking your support so that we can improve the realities of youth and families in Guatemala. Through our programs focused on Education & Careers, Character & Leadership and Healthy Lifestyles, we feel that we have the tools and solutions to many of Guatemala's ailments. Our project seeks to provide the tools and resources for youth and mothers, to attain self sufficiency and long term success.
Guatemala is a beautiful country, including its people, its history and its landscape. The problem we face is that Education is amongst the lowest in Latin America (only 12% of the population goes to college), women are openly discriminated against either through sexism or agism (businesses post 18-25 age limit to apply for jobs) and violence against women and young girls is also the common norm. Clubs de Ninos y Ninas de Centro America has proven a success, already promoting 99% of its Club members, into the next grades. The Club serves as an after-school safe and positive space for youth, during the critical times of the day. Parents can now work, or take Club courses to secure work or start their own business. Our programs have proven effective for over 160 years in the US, and they are clearly working around the world, including Guatemala.
Boys and Girls Clubs in the US and around the world, for over 160 years, have proven effective in developing youth, strengthening families and communities. Clubs de Ninos y Ninas de Centro America, under the guidance of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, is replicating the model and implementing programs, projects and activities that closely resemble or even match exactly, those programs that helped produce leaders, global leaders. We are a long term thinking organization!
