Challenge

Children with mental disability are very vulnerable and more prone to abuse. They are a neglected section of our society and their rights are grossly trampled upon. These rights are broadly the basic human rights but are also individual rights such as rights to education, medication, marriage and child bearing, employment, property ownership including inheritance. And also the right to live, not only a life but a descent life, to fight cruel and inhumane ;quarantine, vasectomy, euthanasia etc

Solution

The project will solve the problem through a holistic approach by; Identifying who these children are through regular census and establishment of a database. Carrying out medical examination to establish the level of brain damage per individual child. Providing medication for cure and management of cases which may be incurable to mitigate further brain damage. Provide hygiene and then training members to participate in income / wealth generation in order to be economically independent during

Long-Term Impact

Long term impact will be a society where child mental disability is understood by the victims, parents , relatives, guardians and other care givers ( some of the children do not have parents) AND people with mental disability are treated with dignity so that they can exercise their full potential and freely participate in all development processes without any hindrance or discrimination.
