Drug abuse treatment programs will provide assessment for HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, counseling to help children and women change behaviors that assist them at risk of infection. Attention will be paid to vulnerable children at school, youth and women. A comprehensive package of interventions of HIV prevention will include: education, life skills training, condom distribution, counseling,HIV Testing, Dots implementation, Treatment adherence, awareness campaigns, Home-based care.
Alicedale community is having a challenge of orphans and vulnerable children involved with drugs. In a research conducted after a 12 year old vulnerable boy was involved in drugs while he is also HIV positive and diagnosed TB and got mentally disturbed due to brain damage caused by drug taking, it was discovered that, 45% of learners at school are involved with drugs. Orphans and Vulnerable children, youth and women are affected. Girls, boys and Women are abused by being forced to sell drugs.
All community stakeholders will be engaged to play part in prevention of drugs within the community. We will establish Child Protection forum where the members of the forum with the assistance of South African Police Security will make a search of each child before getting into school premises.The organisation will test all children attending after-care program and school. The organisation will provide nutrition, mild-medication, school uniform,clothes, and health care to vulnerable children.
The organisation will conduct life skills,educational talks and debates to 1500 children. There will be community awareness program where 30 community stakeholders will be engaged in dialogues and workshops. Awareness campaigns accommodating 1000 people on prevention strategies. 3 Support groups of infected children , youth and women. Home-based Care services to bed-ridden women exposed to drugs. Treatment Adherence, testing and Counselling services. Community food garden projects for poverty.
