This project will help improve outreach centers in areas where High-Risk Children are exposed to many dangers (drugs, crime, early age drinking and pre-teen pregnancy) as part of their everyday life. By offering children a place to receive help with homework as well as extra-curricular activities such as: music and dance lessons, ethics and values workshops, practice soccer and volleyball, all while providing them with a safe place to play, and interact with others, out of harm's way.
We intervene in areas where crime, drugs and alcohol go hand in hand. Many children in these neighborhoods end up consuming, dealing or behind bars because of their surroundings. These neighborhoods don't allow children to grow up as children, to become active members of society and let alone develop a sense of community. They lack guidance, supervision and family values in most cases. Everyday we lose a child to the streets, this has to stop.
Providing dignified outreach centers where children from these neighborhoods can attend after school and receive quality time consuming activities, such as tutoring, psychological support, get involved sports, and participate in self-help workshops all from quality professionals that will look after them as if they were their own children and see to it that they receive the proper instruments to grow up as children should.
Over 500 High-risk children will be able to benefit from a life far from the streets. They'll learn to face life's obstacles and that drugs and alcohol aren't they way to solve them. We'll give them the tools to grow into bright professionals with values and morals. Develop a sense of community and understand that they can succeed in life, that they can rise from poverty, that they can make a difference in the world and that they can be the example for others to follow.
