Hero Pups acquire, trains, and pairs support dogs with veterans and first responders in New England who have been diagnosed with service-related, psychological challenges. Hero Pups has NO paid staff. We are all volunteers. Also, we give the dogs to the recipients for FREE. They do not incur any charges. Because our organization does not have any paid staff members, 100 percent of donated funds are directly used to pay for sheltering, medical care, feeding, and training our support dogs.
Our organization has NO paid staff. Every dollar raised goes directly towards training support dogs to give to eligible veterans and first responders for FREE. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all of our fundraisers have been canceled for the foreseeable future. Yet, each week, the list of eligible recipients requesting dogs continues to grow faster than our existing infrastructure can sustain, particularly during these stressful times.
The lack of funds from canceled fundraisers will have serious and significant consequences on our ability to accomplish our mission of providing as many dogs as possible to eligible recipients. If our organization is awarded funding, every, single penny will be used to ensure our goals for supporting our 'heroes' who are in need will be accomplished.
Our organization is a proven success story having already trained 72 support and comfort dogs and successfully placed them with eligible veterans and first responders. In order to continue to meet the growing demand (particularly in the COVID-19 environment), we must identify funding sources (such as this) that will allow us to expand our operations and maximize efficiencies while offsetting the increased financial costs.
