This project is based in Bungoma County, Kenya where there are many families and children in the sprawling and often poor small villages. We have initiated many local projects, which have brought a new optimism into their community. Now we are focusing on the girls and women and fully engaging them in becoming advocates for their own needs. They are speaking out and taking on their own projects, not just feminine hygiene, but community building.
The problem in Kenya is that the women don't know what they have potential to do. There is a lack of resources that allow women to thrive in countries such as Kenya. There needs to be more empowerment to women so that they can receive a higher education, better living conditions, safer environment, etc.
By doing so, these women will be able to expand their knowledge and reach greater potential which effects the greater community and its economy. When the women of Bungoma County get involved it boosts the economy by providing jobs and teaching the women to be more independent.
On a long-term scale the women of Bungoma County will, with your help, continuously encourage each other to become independent working women in society.
