Thank you for helping children like Destin!

Destin smiles after his life-changing surgery.
Destin was first evaluated by an IHC mission trip volunteer team in October 2008. Destin and his family made the long trip from the island of Dominica to be seen by the team. IHC volunteer pediatric surgeons discovered that Destin had a weakness in a spinal muscle in addition to other muscular deformities in his hamstrings and Achilles tendons that would require surgery to repair. Though this type of surgery could be daunting for a 7-year-old boy, Destin was excited and knew his friends in Dominica were proud of him. “I’m proud of myself too,” Destin told his parents just before going into the operating room. The IHC surgical volunteer team is also proud of Destin as he recovers from his orthopedic surgery!
Thanks to your generous support, Destin was able to have the surgery needed to enable him to walk and live a full, healthy life.
