Pitch In For Baseball's role in the healing process for communities devastated by Hurricane Sandy was featured in NBC Nightly News' "making a difference" segment. To watch click on the link below.
Our work to help Island Park Little League is only a part of the story. In total, we assisted 22 youth baseball and softball programs in New York and New Jersey who lost everything in the storm. The final tally...we delivered over $210,000 worth of equipment to ensure that nearly 10,000 kids had a glove on their hand, bat on their shoulder and uniform on their back for the 2013 season.
Here is what one of the coaches from one of the leagues we helped said about their situation and the donation.
"We were very worried here in Keansburg about not being able to field teams. After the storm hundreds of families were displaced, and we thought baseball/softball would be the last thing on their minds. Thankfully, we were wrong. Our team rosters were better than last season before the storm, we were even able to host on a pre-season batting clinic. The only hurdle we had left was to replace our lost equipment. Pitch in for Baseball took care of that for us, they made our season possible, and helped us restore pride in our community. Thank you from all of us here in Keansburg."
