This is a project to support the women groups in Bui Division. We want to be buying 3 weeks old chickens and giving to members of our women groups who have been very active and needs help. Each family will be given training on how to keep and fatten Agric fowls for marketing so as to generate recurring income for their families. Children will be trained to help their parents in this project . All family members will be involved. The income will improve family income. We need support.
We have been working with women groups and carrying out a women palm oil project. They are now very organized. These women are very poor and family members do not have common activity to jointly fight against poverty at the level families. As such they only depend on peasant farming while children remain at home because of lack of school needs, and other basic needs that cannot be acquired from the farms. The families really lack the capacity to fight against poverty through such activities.
If this project has funding, it will empower families who can keep grow fowls and sell them as income generating activities and then buy new ones and continue keeping them under our supervision. Families will generate steady income after every three months because we are going to look for a common market where they will sell and then replenish their stock with new chicks. The project will also involve training by our lives stock experts and all the families involved will be enriched.
This project will be a recycling type of project because we will ensure that when the chicks and grown to mature, the fowls will be sold and new ones supplied after they must made a reasonable income. It it intended to be a sustainable project which will be continuesly recycled. At the moment many families are now supplying the children with basic school needs for their children. A trained vertinary officer has been involved in the project for regular follow up and workshops.
