In Sierra Leone...
The women and children in the village are grossly underserved and are therefore plagued with multiple deprivations, including but not limited to the lack of access to good health, education, justice, and financial services.
Covid-19 intersecting with other cultural variables, their vulnerability to poverty, mental distress and Gender Based Violence continues to fester.

To make our village interventions more strategic with efficiency-level impacts, we are facilitating the formation of a "Women's Cooperative Group/Organization" in the village consisting of thirty vulnerable young women and girls.

This will serve as a vehicle through which sustainable change/ development can be inspired. This will stay with them even if we stop going there.

Objectives:
* To train and empower  young women volunteers on DV/GBV issues, who will inturn raise awareness, identify, and support DV survivors in the village.
* To mobilize and inspire a sense of cooperation among women and strengthen a unity of purpose for social action/change.
*  A platform to continuously assess the needs and concerns of survivors/ women and girls and link/ help with available local/ external resources.
* To facilitate women's development and financial inclusivity through; small scale farming (what over 80%of rural women do), small zero-interest loans, reproductive health/ birth control trainings etc.

ALSO
We have facilitated a group for farming called the Women in Village Emancipation Strategy.  The project will focus on building sustainable community based systems and structures that drive the protection, empowerment and development of women and girls.
The GOAL is to make rural women self-sufficient and Violence free. Achieving this will also mean; improvement for their families- children (girls) and the community.

OBJECTIVES:
* Get women to think and work together, and support each other in the face of DV/GBV
* Increase massively the dignity, self worth, confidence and moral of women.
*Institute a local"Savings scheme" to increase access to finance.
* Establish a "seed bank" for sustainable farming.

Right now, there's massive support from the community stakeholders to make this project a tremendous success!

In Rwanda...
With the support of Unsilenced Voices, IDA Rwanda has carried out sensitizations against domestic violence and sexual abuse. 20 domestic violence and sexual abuse survivors, met and shared testimonies. They decided to stay together and raise their voices against domestic violence and sexual abuse. Supported by Unsilenced Voices, at the end of sensitization, every survivor received a mask, T-shirt, soap , maize flour, palm oil, salt...They decided to be community mobilizer advocates and fighters against domestic violence and sexual abuse. IDA Rwanda and all survivors are very thankful to Unsilenced voices for supporting this activity.

The onset of the COVID 19 virus has ripped through the world with a force beyond anything we have ever seen of its nature. Despite this situation, Unsilenced Voices is even more committed to forge ahead, as now more than ever, survivors need hope and assurance for their futures.
Unsilenced Voices in Sierra Leone was able to distribute 500 face masks and 5 bags of rice to three different communities... a village in Bo, the market women, and night workers.  We also spoke to these communities about how to keep COVID-19 out of there communities and also about their rights regarding domestic violence and sexual abuse.  We were well recieved.
In Ghana, we were able to purchase 12 mattresses for a safe house around Accra for survivors of domestic abuse through our partner The Ark Foundation and 16 bedsheets and 12 toys.  This month we will also be educating about the pandemic.
In the USA, we are planning our in-person education seminar for August in Los Angeles to provide the community information regarding domestic violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking.  We are partnering with other organizations to provide resources to survivors.

"Among other organizations in this field, Unsilenced Voices has been recognized as a an outstanding and a strategic partner by the ministry in dealing with SGBV issues.

The ministry of Social Welfare is incredibly impressed and holds Unsilenced Voices to a very high esteem for our strategic interventions in fighting against SGBV. This was expressed during an engagement we had earlier today with the Regional Director and other senior members of staff of the Ministry, in pursuit of an office space within one of their facilities in the center of town.

The structure is strategically located in the middle of town. It's approximately 250m from the Police and about 150m from the hospital. This will undoubtedly put an automatic end to the problem of accessibility by victims/clients who seek our help.

Given our valued contribution in the field of humanity, the Director and other staff of the Ministry on the ground, have given their consent to occupy one of their abandoned structure that will need to be renovated by us since we will not be paying rent.   Below are pictures, during an assessment, of the structure with the Regional Director." Pictures of November 25th launching of 16 days of Activism against Gender Based Violence at the Ministry of Social Welfare conference Hall with other organizations are also included in this report. Along with photos of our most recent school sensitization program with students in the community

Unsilenced Voices has been working on creating partnerships to continue and expand our reach.  We are expanding our community sensitization programs to schools in and around Bo, Sierra Leone and we have partnered with a celebrity in the Los Angeles area to help us generate awareness (the celebrity will be revealed soon!).

Unsilenced Voices will be starting programing in the USA while fullfilling our obligations to Ghana and Sierra Leone.  We plan to hold quarterly educational summits in LA to help the many victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex traffiking in California.  The founder, Michelle Jewsbury, is traveling worldwide speaking about this epidemic so we can see tremendous change around the world.

We are having huge success educating women and men in villages and in the city, but we continue to need more help.  We are hoping that by bringing influencers on our team, we can raise the money needed for both Ghana and Sierra Leone so we can expand not only to the United States, but also Nepal and Rwanda.

Save the date for October 23.  We will be holding a fundraising event in Los Angeles with LN2 restaurant on Melrose 6pm-9pm.  $49 General Admission and $99 VIP PRESALE
