This project aims at building a school block for the more than 1000 young children who live in Tukutu community, Bauchi, in NorthEast Nigeria. By joining us to build this school, you will be saving lives, encouraging early childhood development and giving hope of a better future to more than 1,000 vulnerable children. The school block of 6 classrooms and 2 toilets will also encourage girl-child enrollment. This will lead to an end in early child marriage, child trafficking and gender inequality.
Children in Tukutu Community are forced to learn under very harsh conditions as there are no school buildings or school facilities. They study under trees with the chalkboard hanging on a tree. They are greatly affected by bad weather such as rain. Also due to a lack of toilet facilities, girls are denied privacy as they are made to ease themselves in available bushes. This has led to contracting deadly diseases such as roundworm and hookworm. The children fall ill constantly and miss school.
When a school block of 6 classrooms and 2 toilets are built in Tukutu community, children will be protected from harm and bad weather. They will be healthier as they will have access to better hygiene and sanitation. This will save lives and encourage more children particularly girls to attend school. By donating to this project, you will be contributing to a better life and future for the more than 1000 children in Tukutu community. You will also be a part of helping end early child marriage.
This project has the ability to positively impact the entire community of Tukutu and even neighboring communities as more parents will be encouraged to enroll their children particularly girls in school. The children will be happier, healthier and better educated if we can join hands to build them a school block and 2 toilets. This will lead to sustainable community growth and development. In the long-term, education participation rates will increase and academic performance will improve.
