Help Village Children Meet Education They Need

by Aid and Care

The Project will build the first 12-classroom (8 classrooms for grades 1-8; 4 classroom for grades 9-12) of a mixed day, boarding, and combined primary and secondary school for over 3,000 children who live in the most remote and the poorest village of Makuach in South Sudan. The school will be built at the heart of the village in which every child will have access to free education and learn in a safe environment. The Project will also increase the enrollment and attendance of girls in school.

total goal

There are currently more than 20,000 residents living in Makuach village. The most remote and the poorest village in South Sudan. The village has over 3000 school age children and youth, majority of them are between 5 and 14 years old, have no schools. Due to lack of schools in Makuach village, children walk for many hours and miles through the forests and bushes to attend schools in other villages. Wild animals attack and kill them and they stopped attending schools and stay homes.

The school will educate all Makuach village children gaining skills and knowledge they need to close illiteracy gap-preparing them to move on to next stage of education. Children will no longer walk for many hours and miles through the bushes and forests in search for an education. Wild animals will no longer attack and kill them. Children and teachers who are still learning and teaching in the under trees will be in a school building avoiding injuries and deaths from falling tree branches.

Long-Term Impact

The school will educate all village children gaining skills and knowledge they need to close illiteracy gap, find employment and become free poverty stricken. The school will increase a number of children every year receiving free quality education. The school will increase a number of girls who have been denied access to education enroll in a school. Graduates from this school will in turn educate the following generations and help build their communities and the nation.
