Brenda lives in the south of Lima and she is 11 years old and she had an accident when she was 3 months old. The event occurred while Brenda was sleeping in her bed and her mother was cleaning the sidewalk of her rustic house, which was consumed by fire. This little girl suffered severe burns to the head, face, arms, legs and abdomen. Brenda has a scalp burn loss and she needs to stay in Lima for a surgery at least 3 month, and her family does not have the financial resources to help her.
Despite the aftermath of her burns, Brenda is a loving, outgoing girl who likes to play with her friends and sister. She is currently in the sixth grade and likes classes in communication. When she comes to ANIQUEM, she is happy because she has improved a lot, she also tells us that she has a puppy named "Toy". She likes animals a lot, that's why she dreams of becoming a veterinarian. She is a sweet girl who urgently needs an expander to recover the scalp she lost in the accident.
Brenda lives in Pisco, close to Lima, with her parents and her little sister. Her father works as a motorcycle taxi driver and what he earn does not cover their basic needs. We need to place an expander so that, after 11 years, she can be a girl like the others who go with her to school. With this operation, in Lima, we will improve her self-esteem, she will stop being ashamed and we will also improve her social development. This will be a source of happiness for Brenda and her family.
Through the integral rehabilitation we offer, our little patients will not only get the necessary medical treatment but will also learn how to live with their external and internal scars. Our ultimate goal is to improve their quality of life, so that the kids are able to live a normal life again and convert them and their families into prevention ambassadors in their community. Together with the distribution of prevention messages they can help us to decrease the number of burn accidents in Peru
