This project will build a school for children in Gbawe, Ghana, to provide education to improve their well-being and positively impact their families and the community. PAAJAF Foundation is a non profit organization whose main objective is providing free good quality education for children in the Gbawe region of Ghana. Educated children are better prepared to build a more prosperous future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
The community in the Gbawe region of Ghana faces the following challenges in the education sector: There are only 27 public schools for a population of around 75,000, they are struggling to provide education for all children so this has resulted in overcrowded classes. Many children are unable to attend school due to a lack of family funds, which is getting worse due to the global coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the illiteracy rate is over 20%.
PAAJAF's goal is to build its own school that will serve the entire community as an education center in Gbawe, as at the moment the 5 classroom building rented is already at its capacity limits. The first step is to acquire land of sufficient size for the full project. The project design for building this new school is modular, allowing future adaptation. The first module will consist of 6 classrooms, with the goal to achieve a capacity of 600 students in the future by adding additional modules.
Providing education to children in Gbawe will improve their well-being and positively impact their families and the community. Support for the project will improve the lives of children in Gbawe and give them hope for a better future.
