Many of us have protection from the elements, freezing winter to searing summer heat but the homeless do not. UPO helps the DC Homeless throughout the year. UPO Shelter Hotline vans transported 162,783 people to shelter in 2014.Funded by the Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness the UPO Shelter Hotline represents the entry point assisting Homeless folks off the street and transporting them to Homeless Shelters.
UPO provides all the comfort items we distribute to the DC Homeless we assist. Donations to Help UPO Help the DC Homeless on Global Giving provides the funds we need to purchase the comfort items. UPO distributed 49,777 comfort items to the DC Homeless during FY 15 - see attachment for details of items distributed.
