This project will enhance FREE provision of consistent, appropriate and timely psycho social trauma counseling, forensic medical examination and treatment, Lab test, drugs and other professional services and support to 720 women, girls, children and persons with disability who are victims/survivors of rape and sexual assault in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Sexual and gender based violence against women, girls and children is becoming alarming in Nigeria. Within the community, women, girls and children are subjected to rape and other forms sexual and gender based violence and due to stigmatization and lack of specialized care to survivors, many do not seek help nor report to the police. Hence, Partnership for Justice will provide consistent, appropriate and timely professional support services to at least 720 victims of rape annually in Nigeria
Partnership for Justice through setting up of Mirabel Centre provides free forensic medical examination, trauma counseling sessions, Lab tests, drugs and other support services to rape victims. The Centre also provides an immediate after care for survivors as well as their families by sharing their experience as means of coping mechanism. Those who receive treatment from the centre are empowered on social skills available and on how to deal with trauma and stigmatization and access to justice
The project will provide support services to 720 survivors/victims of rape in one year by helping them to break the silence on rape, cope with trauma and stigmatization, seek justice and reintegrate them back into the society. They will act as role models to other survivors/victims in other to break the silence and seek help. They will also help in prevention and response to issues of sexual and gender based violence within their communities and the society at large.
