DECIDES PROJECT-Demystifying Cancer Infection- Do early Screening DECIDES project provides free testing and cancer screening to the poor women. Cancer infections have cleared many family lifelong savings and investments, pushing them to extreme poverty. the project enhances the recognizing and possible warning signs of cancer and taking prompt action leading to early diagnosis and treatment. this saves families from pain, high costs and leverage household incomes.
When a woman and Mother develops cancer, the household's risk of significant financial hardship becomes excessively high:In Kenya 80% of cancer survivors exhaust the entire lifelong savings and investments, they then have to rely on handouts from friends for care and family survival. 90 % of this families end up In extreme poverty and Bankruptcy. In Kenya, most people believe cancer is a punishment for a sin or the result of witchcraft, a cancer diagnosis is far more stigmatizing than HIV.
VESH Foundation conducts FREE medical clinics In Poor settlements. The Medical camps provide an opportunity for the under-privileged Women to access free treatment. During the medical camp the women are education on cancer effects and encouraged to undergo screening (Demystifying Cancer Infection- Do early Screening). Early diagnosis is particularly relevant for cancers of the breast, cervix and ovarian. We then provide post- cancer and nutrition management support .
VESH Foundation has put In place systems and environments to cushion survivors from Stigma, high cost and helping families cope. Survivors members are facilitated to join the NATIONAL HOSPITAL INSURANCE FUND (NHIF).
